Pagpapalakas sa Financial Technology isinusulong sa Kamara

Isinusulong ni House Committee on Ways and Means Chairman Joey Salceda ang pagpapalakas sa financial technology o fintech sector sa bansa.

Sa ilalim ng House Bill 7760 o Financial Technology Industry Development Act ni Salceda, pinalalawig nito ang eligibility ng Special Investors Resident Visa (SIRV) para sa mga financial technology investors at management staff gayundin ay ipinasasailalim ang fintech industry sa Investment Priorities Plan (IPP) sa loob ng sampung taon upang mabigyan ito ng tax incentives.

Sa ganitong paraan ay mas mahihikayat ang mga mamumuhunan na dito na lamang palaguin sa bansa ang kanilang fintech companies.

Nakasaad din sa panukala ang paglikha ng BSP ng Financial Technology Office (FTO) at pagbuo ng tanggapan ng Financial Technology Industry Roadmap para sa pagsusulong ng fintech industry.

Ayon kay Salceda, mahalagang samantalahin ng Pilipinas ang umuunlad na fintech sector kasunod ng pagalis ng mga ito sa HongKong dahil sa pinahigpit na batas at data management habang ang ilang finance major centers sa Asya ay napupuno na ng ganitong industriya tulad sa Shanghai.

Naniniwala ang mambabatas na malaking panghikayat ang Pilipinas sa mga fintech companies dahil isa sa pinakamalaking consumer market para sa digital products ang bansa na may 74 million smartphone users at 10 oras din ang mga Pilipino kung gumamit ng internet.

Kabilang sa fintech industry ay virtual banking, online lending facilities, cryptocurrencies at blockchain.
