Mga bangko na nagpasyang ipagpaliban ang paniningil ng fund transfer fees pinapurihan

Pinapurihan ni House Deputy Majority Leader at Bagong Henerasyon Rep. Bernadette Herrera ang ilang mga malalaking bangko sa bansa kasunod ng pagtugon sa panawagan na ipagpaliban muna ang paniningil sa online fund transfer hanggang sa katapusan ng taon.

Ayon kay Herrera, dapat lamang pasalamatan at kilalalanin ang mga bangko na inisip ang kapakanan ng kanilang costumer at isinantabi muna ang kita sa fund transfer.

Sa pamamagitan anya nito, lalo pang mahihikayat ang publiko na gumamit ng digital system sa kanilang mga transaksyon.

“It is commendable that these banks are willing to forgo huge amounts of income just so their online customers will continue to enjoy relief from the payment of fund transfer fees and encourage them more to use a safe and convenient digital payment system during this time of pandemic,” saad ni Herrera.

Kabilang sa mga bangko na tumugon sa panawagan ang Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co., ang subsidiary nito na Philippine Savings Bank, Philippine National Bank, China Banking Corp., at Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation.

Ang nasabing mga bangko na kabilang nasa top 10 kung asset ang pag-uusapan ay sumama sa 26 na mga commercial banks ay e-money issuers na nagsuspinde ng paniningil ng fund transfer fee.

Gayunman, kinuwestyon ni Herrera ang BDO UniUnibank Inc. at Bank of the Philippines Islands na top 1 at top 4 sa laki ng ari-arian sa mga bangko matapos magpasya na maningil na ng fund transfer fee simula kahapon.

Sabi ni Herrera, “The big question is: why is it so hard for these two largest Philippine banks to do what other banks, including the relatively smaller ones, have done in terms of providing relief to their distressed clients?”
