US dollar bills na itinago sa cooking magazine, nasabat ng BOC

Nasamsam ng Bureau of Customs – Port of NAIA ang 8,000 US dollars sa Fedex warehouse noong September 25.

Ayon sa ahensya, ilang $50 at $100 bills ang itinago sa pagitan ng mga pahina ng isang cooking magazine.

Idineklara ang package bilang “correspondence” mula sa New Jersey, USA at naka-consign sa isang residente sa San Pedro, Laguna.

Natagpuan ang smuggled currency matapos isailalim ang package sa physical examination ng isang Customs Examiner.

Dadaan ang nasabat na foreign currency sa seizure at forfeiture proceedings kasunod ng paglabag sa Sections 1400 (Misdeclaration) at 1113 ng Republic Act 10863 (CMTA) na may kinalaman sa Republic Act 7653 (New Central Bank Act) at BSP Foreign Exchange Transaction Manual.

Ipapasa ang case records sa Bureau Action Team Against Smugglers (BATAS) at Legal Service para sa mas malalim na imbestigasyon at case build up.
