Pitong Pinay na biktima ng human trafficking, naharang sa NAIA
Naharang ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang pitong Filipina na hinihinalang bikima ng human trafficking sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Sa ulat ng BI Travel Control and Enforcement Unit (TCEU), naharang ang mga Filipina sa immigration departure area ng NAIA Terminal 1 noong September 17.
Pasakay sana ang pito sa Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight patungong Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Natanggap umano ang tatlong babae para magtrabaho bilang caregivers sa emirate habang ang apat na iba pa ay na-recruit para magtrabaho bilang marketing and sales agents sa isang interior design company.
“Verification made on the overseas employment certificates (OECs) they presented revealed that some of them are not in the records of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administrtion (POEA), while the others appear to have been issued to other persons,” pahayag ni BI-TCEU Chief Ma. Timotea Barizo.
Lumabas din aniya sa UAE visas ng mga pasahero na bibiyahe sila sa Dubai bilang turista lamang at hindi manggagawa.
Dinala ang pito sa Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) para sa mas malalim pang imbestigasyon at mabigyan ng tulong.
Kasunod nito, nagpaalala si Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente sa mga nais magtrabaho sa ibang bansa na huwag makipag-ugnayan sa mga hindi rehistradong ahensya o recruiter.
“We were told that these intercepted victims all said that they met their handlers and recruiters via social media and that their travel papers were only handed to them a few days before their scheduled flights… They did not know that these fraudulent papers could result in interception by our officers,” pahayag ni Morente.
Dagdag pa nito, sinasamantala ng human traffickers ang ilang kababayan na nangangailangan ng trabaho sa gitna ng COVID-19 pandemic.
