Panalo ng Pilipinas vs China sa Arbitral Court bahagi na ng international law ayon kay Pangulong Duterte
Binanggit ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang tagumpay ng PIlipinas laban sa China sa agawan ng teritoryo sa South China Sea sa kaniyang talumpati sa United Nations General Assembly.
Sa pre-recorded speech ng pangulo, sinabi niya na ang naturang pasya ng arbitral court ay bahagi na ngayon ng internationl law.
“The award is now part of international law, beyond compromise and beyond the reach of passing governments to dilute, diminish or abandon,” ayon sa pangulo.
Sinabi ng pangulo na ang commitment ng Pilipinas sa pinag-aagawang teritoryo sa South China Sea ay laging naka-salig sa United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea at sa 2016 ruling ng Permanent Court of Arbitration sa the Netherlands.
Magugunitang ilang ulit nang hindi kinilala ng China ang 2016 ruling ng arbitral tribunal.
Pinasalamatan din ng pangulo ang iba pang mga bansa na sumusporta sa arbitral victory ng Pilipinas.
“We welcome the increasing number of states that have come in support of the award and what it stands for — the triumph of reason over rashness, of law over disorder, of amity over ambition. This — as it should — is the majesty of the law,” dagdag ng pangulo.
Ito ang unang pagkakataon na nagtalumpati ang pangulo sa UN.
