Lifestyle check sa mga kawani ng pamahalaan pansamantalang ipinahinto ng Ombudsman

Hiniling ni Ombudsman Samuel Martires sa Kongreso na amyendahan ang Republic Act 6713 o ang Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards of Public Official and Employees.

Sa pagdinig ng panukalang 2021 budget ng Office of the Ombudsman sinabi ni Ombudsman Samuel Martires na maraming kailangang baguhin sa nasabing batas.

Marami anya ang nabibiktima ang nasabing batas at subject ito sa iba’t-ibang interpretasyon.

Ito anya ang dahilan kung bakit inihinto na nila ang lifestyle check sa mga kawani ng pamahalaan.

Paliwanag ni Martires sa Kamara walang sinuman ang may karapatan upang husgahan isang empleyado ng gobyerno dahil may kaniya-kaniya prayoridad ang bawat isa.

Mayroon anya na may nagtatrabaho sa pamahalaan na mas pinipili ang mamuhay na mas mataas sa kanyang kinikita pero hindi anya ito dapat pakialaman.

Paliwanag nito, mayroong mas inuuna ang ibang bagay tulad halimbawa ng mamahaling sasakyan at iba pang material na bagay at isinasantabi ang iba.

Ang iba naman anya ay nangungutang para sa kanilang mga gustong bilhin.
