Halos 200,000 OFW, gustong umuwi ng Pilipinas

Aabot sa halos 200,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) ang nagnanais na umuwi na ng Pilipinas sa gitna ng COVID-19 pandemic.

Sa pagdinig ng Kamarea sa panukalang 2021 budget ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), sinabi ni Sec. Teodoro Locsin Jr. na 177,000 OFWs ang nagnanais makauwi ng Pilipinas.

Sinisikap aniya nilang maiuwi na ng Pilipinas sa lalong madaling panahon ang libu-libong stranded na OFWs mula sa iba’t ibang panig ng mundo.

Sa kasalukuyan, sinabi ni Locsin na nasa 185,000 OFWs ang natulungan nila, katuwang ang Philippine Overseas Labor Office at Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), para makuwi ng Pilipinas sa gitna ng pandemya.

Mayroon aniyang mga problemang kinakaharap sa pagpapauwi sa mga stranded na OFW kabilang ang paglilimita pa rin ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) sa bilang ng international flights na dumarating sa Pilipinas.
