Sec. Duque abwelto sa PhilHealth mess; Sen. Sotto nagulat
Natulala si Senate President Vicente Sotto III nang malaman hindi kasama sa maga maaring kasuhan sa iskandalo sa paggamit ng pondo ng PhilHealth sina Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.
Ipinagdiinan nito na malinaw naman na maaring papanagutin si Duque alinsunod sa Article 217 ng Revised Penal Code bilang chairman of the board ng Philhealth.
Hindi rin kasama na inirekomendang makasuhan si resigned Philhealth Senior Vice President for Legal Sector Rodolfo del Rosario Jr.
Umaasa na lang si Sotto na magiging iba ang perspektibo ng Ombudsman kapag inihain na sila ang mga kaso.
Dagdag pa ng Sotto, pag-uusapan nila ni Sen. Panfilo Lacson ang pag-absuwelto kay Duque dahil aniya ang huli ang dumiskarte sa mga rekomendasyon na nilaman ng Committee of the Whole report.
Inaprubahan ni Pangulong Duterte ang rekomendasyon ng binuong task force at pinamunuan ni Justice Sec. Menardo Guevarra na kasuhan ang ilang dating at aktibong opisyal ng Philhealth sa pangunguna ni resigned Philhealth president Ricardo Morales.
Kakasuhan din sina Jovita Aragona, SVP for Information Management Sector; Calixto Gabuya Jr., acting senior manager of the information technology and management department; Renato Limsiaco Jr., SVP for the fund management sector at Israel Pargas, SVP for the health finance policy sector.
Ilan lang sa isasampang kaso laban sa kanila ang paglabag sa Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act., malversation of public funds, illegal use of public funds at gross misconduct and gross neglect.
