“Doktor para sa Bayan” bill, lusot na sa 3rd reading sa Senado
Pumasa na sa third and final reading sa Senado ang “Doktor para sa Bayan” bill, na layon madagdagan ang makapag-aral ng medisina para dumami ang doktor sa bansa.
“This bill will be a legacy of this Senate, Mr. President. And I’m sure that the generations of Filipinos that will come after us will be thankful for the passage of this measure which also is a proof that amid the pandemic, the priority of the People’s Senate is our people’s health,” sabi ni Villanueva, ang principal author at principal sponsor ng Senate Bill No. 1520.
Sa panukala, magkakaroon ng medical scholarship ang mga karapat-dapat na estudyante na nangangarap maging doktor.
Kailangan naman nilang magsilbi sa bayan kapag sila ay ganap ng doktor.
Co-authors ng panukala sina Senate President Vicente Sotto III, Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto at Senator Grace Poe.
Binanggit ni Villanueva na sa ngayon sa bawat 10,000 Filipino ay mayroon lang tatlong doktor at aniya, kailangan ng karagdagang 80,000 para maabot ang nais ng World Health Organization (WHO) na 10 doktor sa bawat 10,000 mamamayan.
“Medical education remains the most expensive course in the Philippines. Ngayon, kahit sinong Pilipino, anuman ang antas sa buhay, kaya nang tuparin ang pangarap na maging doktor,” sabi pa nito.
