Pangunguha ng “endangered” o “threatened” species na halaman may katapat na parusang 12-taon pagkakakulong o hanggang P1M multa

May babala ang City Government ng Baguio City sa mga mahilig manguha o pumitas basta-basta ng halaman sa mga pampublikong lugar lalo na sa mga government properties gaya ng parke, watersheds, forest reservations at iba pang public spaces.

Ayon sa Public Information Office ng Baguio, may batas at ordinansa na nagbabawal sa poaching, picking o cutting ng mga halaman na nasa public places.

Sa ilalim ng City Environment Code (Ord. No. 18, S. Of 2016) ang mga mahuhuling nangunguha ng halaman ay maaring mapatawan ng P5,000 multa o makulong limang araw.

Kung ang halamang kinuha ay maituturing nang “endangered” o “threatened species” gaya ng partikular na species ng Alocasia, ang mahuhuli ay maaring masampahan ng kasong paglabag sa RA 9147 o Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act.

Ang paglabag sa nasabing batas ay may katapat na parusang 6 hanggang 12 taon na pagkakakulong at multang P100,000 hanggang P1,000,000.

Paalala ng City Environment and Parks Management Office ng Baguio, bagaman mabuti na dumadami ang nagkakainterest sa pag-aalaga ng halaman, dapat ay respetuhin ang natural habitat ng mga ito.

Mas mainam pa ring hayaan silang magpadami sa kagubatan.

Dapat ding hayaan ang paglago ng mga ito sa public places.
