Matapos hindi mabigyan ng Kongreso ng panibagong prangkisa, binawi na ng National Telecommunications Commission ang lahat ng television at radio frequencies ng ABS-CBN.
Sa desisyon na inilabas na may petsang Setyembre 9, sinabi ng NTC na wala ng prangkisa ang ABS-CBN para ipagpatuloy pa ang operasyon ng kanilang TV at radio broadcasting stations sa buong bansa.
Nag-expire ang 25-year franchise ng ABS-CBN noong nakaraang Mayo 4 at nang sumunod na araw ay ipinahinto na ng NTC ang kanilang pag-broadcast sa TV at radyo.
At noong Hulyo 10, nagdesisyon ang House Committee on Legislative Franchises na hindi na bigyan ng bagong prangkisa ang ABS CBN.
“Indubitably, the denial of Respondent’s franchise renewal application in Congress, coupled with the denial of Respondent’s Petition by the Supreme Court, lead to no other conclusion except that Respondent had already lost the privilege of installing, operating, and maintaining radio broadcasting stations in the country,” ang nakasaad sa desisyon ng NTC.
Nakasaad din sa desisyon na ang lahat ng Provisional Authorities/Certificates of Public Convenience ng ABS CBN ay kanselado na at ibinasura na rin ang lahat ng kanilang pending applications/petitions.
Pirmado ni NTC Comm. Gamaliel Cordoba, Deputy Comms. Edgardo Cabarios at Delilah Deles ang desisyon.
