Paglaya ni US Marine Pemberton, naka-hold pa

Naka-hold pa ang paglaya ni US Marine Lance Corporal Joseph Scott Pemberton, ang Amerikanong sundalo na nahatulang guilty sa pagpatay sa transgender na si Jennifer Laude.

Ito ay kahit na nagpalabas na ng desisyon si Olongapo City Regional Trial Court Branch 74 Presiding Judge Roline Ginez-Jabalde na maaari nang makalaya si Pemberton dahil sa magandang pag-uugali sa loob ng kulungan.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, kailangang hintayon muna ang motion for reconsideration na ihahain ng pamahalaan.

“Just in po, I will just read the text po of our BuCor chief. And I will quote, ‘By the way, Sir, advise ng DOJ, hindi ipa-process ang release, this is referring to Pemberton, since there was an MR (motion for reconsideration) filed and we’ll just wait for the resolution of the MR. General Arevalo, please await resolution of the MR before releasing Pemberton,” pahayag ni Roque.

Una rito, sinabi ni Roque na judicial overreach ang ginawa ang judge.

“Iyong ginawa po ni judge na siya na ang nagdesisyon kung paano siya bibigyan ng good conduct is an instance of judicial overreach,” pahayag ni Roque.

Bago naupong Presidential spokesman ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, naging abogado ng pamilya Laude si Roque.
