Pagpapatupad ng contactless at cashless transactions sa mga expressway, tuloy na sa Nobyembre – DOTr
Iginiit ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) ang pagpapatupad ng cashless transactions sa mga expressway simula sa November 2, 2020.
Kasunod ito ng Department Order na nilagdaan ni Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade na nag-aatas sa Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) at Land Transportation Office (LTO) na gumawa ng mga bagong proseso at panuntunan sa smooth implementation ng cashless transactions sa toll expressways.
Nakasaad pa sa kautusan ni Tugade na dapat mag-promulgate ng nararapat na rules and regulations ang TRB na nagre-require sa concessionaires at operators ng tollways para sa transition patungo sa 100 porsyentong electronic toll collection lanes.
Ayon naman kay TRB Executive Director Abraham Sales, nakikipag-ugnayan na sila sa toll operators at concessionaires para sa pagpapatupad ng cash less transactions.
Sabi pa ni Sales, “We are also working on the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the new policy to ensure smooth and expedient transiti transition to contactless and cashless transactions. Ginagawa natin ‘yan para walang hawaan [ng COVID-19]. ‘Yan po ang direktiba sa atin ni Secretary Tugade kaya sisiguraduhin po natin na maipatupad ito by November 2.”
Sa ilalim ng kautusan ni Tugade, ang LTO ang may mandato para sa pag-aaral sa mga pamamaraan para sa full cashless at contactless system sa mga expressway habang ang LTFRB naman ang naatasan na mag monitor sa pagsunod ng mga Public Utility Vehicles para sa mandatory use/installation ng mga electronic tags.
Ipapatupad ang contactless transactions sa South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEX), North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), South Metro Manila Skyway, Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) Tollway, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) at Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX).
