BuCor, hiniritan sa sentensiya ni US Marine Pemberton

Hiniling ng isang korte sa Olongapo City sa Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) na alamin kung may basehan kung maaari nang mapalaya si US Marine Lance Corporal Joseph Scott Pemberton base sa tagal na niyang nakakulong.

“BuCor has been asked by the court in (Olongapo) to submit a computation of Pemberton’s service of sentence. It will be the court that will determine if he is entitled to release,” ayon kay Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete.

Magugunita na sinentensiyahan ng anim hanggang 10 taon na pagkakakulong si Pemberton ng Olongapo City regional trial court (RTC) Branch 74 noong Disyembre 2015 sa kasong homicide dahil sa pagpatay kay transwoman Jennifer Laude.

Ang sinasabing ‘crime of passion’ ay naganap sa Celzone Lodge noong Oktubre 11, 2014.

Naghain ng apela si Pemberton sa Korte Suprema noong 2017 ngunit binawi niya rin ito sa katuwiran na tanggap na niya na pagtitibayin lang ng Kataas-taasang Hukuman ang sentensiya sa kanya.

Simula sa kanyang pagkakaaresto ay nakakulong na sa AFP Custodial Center sa Camp Aguinaldo si Pemberton ngunit siya ay nasa ilalim ng pangangasiwa ng BuCor.
