Cong. Zarate binawi ang “yes” vote sa “Better Normal Bill

Binawi ni Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate ang kaniyang “yes” vote sa “Better Normal Bill” na kamakailan ay inaprubahan ng House of Representatives.

Sa kaniyang liham kay House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano pormal na hiniling ni Zarate ang withdrawal ng kaniyang suporta sa House Bill No. 6864 o “An Act Establishing Public Health and Environmental Standards and Safeguards for the Better Normal in the Workplace, Public Spaces and Communities Toward a Sustainable Recovery from the Coronavirus Disease-19 Pandemic.”

Ayon kay Zarate, sa isinagawang assessment at mas masusing pag-aaral ay may nakita siyang mga probisyon sa batas na hindi naaayon sa prinsipyo ng kanilang partido.

Partikular na binanggit ni Zarate ang Section ng batas na nagbabawal sa public gatherings.

Sinabi ni Zarate na nilalabag nito ang nakasaad sa Saligang Batas na naggagarantya ng kalayaan sa paghahayag ng saloobin at mga puna sa gobyerno.

“In these days that the freedom of speech and expression are besieged, we cannot, in good conscience, support acts that we believe might only further curtail the said rights,” ani Zarate.

Sa ilalim ng panukalang batas, ginagawang mandatory na ang ilang health measures na umiiral ngayon gaya ng pagsusuot ng face masks sa public spaces at workplaces at pagsunod sa physical at social.
