Pondo para sa mga magsasaka nais mabusisi ni Sen. Villar
Tututukan ni Senator Cynthia Villar ang paggamit ng Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (ACEF) para matiyak na napapakinabangan ito ng mga magsasaka at mangingisda.
Ayon kay Villar nais niyang makakuha ng ulat sa paggamit ng pondo mula sa Department of Energy, tulad ng ginagawa sa Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF).
Sinabi ng namumuno sa Senate Committee on Agriculture ayaw na niyang maulit ang mga naging anomalya sa paggamit ng pondo kayat inihinto ito noong 2015.
“ACEF was mishandled and misused before, we don’t want a repeat of that. The loans were extended to big corporations and influential people instead of to small farmers and fisherfolks. It’s been almost five years since ACEF utilization was extended, we want to see how effective it has been in uplifting the lives of farmers and fisherfolks,” paalala ng senadora.
Binuo ang pondo sa ilalim ng RA 10848 para matulungan ang mga magsasaka at mangingisda na makasabay sa kompetisyon sa sektor ng agrikultura sa mga miyembrong bansa ng ASEAN.
