Tatlong puganteng Koryano, naaresto ng BI

Nahuli ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang tatlong puganteng South Korean national na wanted sa telecommunications fraud.

Ayon kay Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente, naaresto ang mga dayuhan na sina Lim Yeongjun, 36-anyos; Kwom Hyeoksoo, 49-anyos; at, Sim Dong Woo, 49-anyos.

Nahuli ng mga tauhan ng BI Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) at Philippine National Police (PNP).

Ani Morente, overstaying aliens na rin ang tatlong dayuhan at ni-revoke na ng gobyerno ng South Korea ang kanilang pasaporte.

Ngunit, sinabi ng BI Chief na hindi pa maaaring mapa-deport ang mga dayuhan dahil sa kinakaharap na kasong paglabag sa 1988 Access Device Regulation Act at 2011 Anti-Cybercrime Law.

Batay pa sa impormasyon ng BI Interpol Unit, nag-operate ang tatlong dayuhan ng call centers nang patago sa Maynila para makapanloko ng biktima.

Sa ngayon, nananatili ang mga suspek sa custodial facility ng Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) habang isinasagawa ang criminal investigation.

“It is only after these criminal charges are resolved, and upon completion of service of sentence, if they are convicted, that we will be able to deport them,” pahayag ni Morente.

“Consequently, we’re not only able to bring these criminals to justice. We also prevented them from using our country as a refuge so they could evade prosecution for their crimes. Besides, their presence here poses a threat to our people’s welfare and safety,” dagdag pa nito.
