Ekonomiya ng Pilipinas bumagsak sa pinakamababang antas

Bumagsak sa pinakamababa ang paglago ng ekonomiya ng bansa para sa second quarter ng taong 2020.

Ayon kay National Statistician Dennis Mapa, 16.5 percent ang naitala nilang pagbaba ng Gross Domestic Product o GDP na pinakamababa simula noong 1981.

Kaugnay ito nang pagpapatupad ng quarantine measures sa buong bansa dahil sa COVID-19 kung saan nasa halos 75 porsyento ng negosyo ang apektado.

Ito na ang ikalawang beses na nakaranas ng magkasunod na recession ang bansa kung saan una ay noong 1st quarter ng 2020 na nakapagtala ng -0.7 percent na ang itinuturong dahilan ay ang pagputok ng Bulkang Taal at ang epekto sa turismo dulot ng COVID-19.

Sabi ng Philippine Statistics Authority sa ang pangunahing contributors sa pagbaba ng GDP ay ang Manufacturing na may -21.3 percent; Construction na may -33.5 percent; at ang Transportation and Storage na nakapagtala ng -59.2 percent.

Sa lahat ng major sectors na nakakaapekto sa paglago ng ekonomiya ng bansa tanging ang Agriculture, forestry and fishing lamang ang umangat sa 1.6 percent.
