“ECQ Bill Shock” hindi na dapat maulit – Sen. Gatchalian

Binalaan na ni Senator Sherwin Gatchalian ang Meralco at iba pang distribution utilities sa posibleng pagkakaroon muli ng unexplained bill shocks ngayon nasa modified enhanced community quarantine ang Metro Manila at katabing lalawigan.

Ayon kay Gatchalian maaring hindi muling makapagsagawa ng meter reading dahil sa lockdown period at kasunod nito ang pag-apila ng mga konsyumer na ipagpaliban o palawigin muna ang pagbabayad.

Inulan ng reklamo ang Meralco nang magpalabas sila ng hindi maipaliwanag na mataas na singil sa kuryente nang pairalin ang Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

“The consumers cannot afford another round of bill shock in their electricity bills. Nabulagta na nga ang mga tao sa overestimation at underestimation ng Meralco sa nagdaang monthly bills, baka magkaproblema na naman sa computation ng darating nilang billing statement ngayong MECQ. Yung iba, dapat may refund pa,” sabi ng namumuno sa Senate Committee on Energy.

Ipinunto nito na dapat ang Department of Energy at Energy Regulatory Commission ay nagpapalabas na ng direktiba para mapaliwanagan ang mga konsyumer kung ano ang dapat nilang asahan at magagawa.
