FIFA, may bago nang presidente

Matapos makatanggap ng 115 na boto, nahalal na bilang bagong presidente ng International Federation of Association Football o mas kilalang FIFA si Gianni Infantino.

Pinalitan ng 45-anyos na Swiss lawyer ang kababayan niyang si Sepp Blatter bilang pinuno ng FIFA.

27 puntos lang ang lamang ni Infantino sa isa pang nominado na si Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa, habang sinundan naman sila ni Prince Ali bin al-Hussein na may 4 na boto, habang si Jerome Champagne naman ay walang nakuha kahit isa.

Matatandaang si Blatter na naging presidente ng FIFA simula noong 1998, ay bumaba sa pwesto noong nakaraang taon, at na-suspinde sa football sa loob ng anim na taon dahil sa paglabag sa ethics guidelines.

Kumandidato si Infantino dahil naging malinaw na hindi maaring tumakbong pangulo ng FIFA si Michael Platini na pinuno ng European football na UEFA.

Naging emosyonal si Infantino, at nangako sa mga delegado na ibabalik niya ang magandang imahe at respeto sa FIFA sa kabila ng dinanas nitong hindi magandang karanasan at mga krisis.
