Pagkasawi ng high-profile inmates sa Bilibid, pinaiimbestigahan sa Kamara
Pinaiimbestigahan ni Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Rufus Rodriguez sa House Committee on Justice na magsagawa ng imbestigasyon sa pagkamatay ng convicted high-profile drug lords at iba pang inmates sa New Bilibid Prisons.
Base sa House Resolution No. 1090 ni Rodriguez, sinabi nito na kinumpirma na ng Department of Justice noong July 20 ang siyam na inmates kabilang na si Jaybee Sebastian na sinasabing nasawi dahil sa COVID-19.
Ayon kay Rodriguez, nakasaad sa death certificate ni Sebastian na nasawi ito dahil sa heart attack at ang COVID-19 ay nakalagay sa “other significant conditions contributing to death.”
Bago aniya kumpirmahin ng DOJ ang pagkasabi nito ay kumalat na muna sa media ang balita.
Iginiit ni Rodriguez na siyang tumatayong senior vice chairman ng komite na noong tinanong ang tagapagsalita ng Bureau of Corrections ay inilabas lamang nito ang statement ni BuCor chief Gerald Bantag kung saan inamin na mayroong mga namatay na bilanggo pero tumangging ilabas ang pangalan dahil sa Data Privacy Law.
Sinabi ng mambabatas na base sa ulat ng Pantheon de Dasmariñas sa Dasmariñas City, Cavite, 28 bangkay ang na-cremate doon noong Mayo kabilang na si Sebastian.
“Because of the initial refusal of the BuCor to release the names of the inmates who died, speculations and other questions have been raised whether the deaths of high-profile inmates were faked or simulated,” saad ni Rodriguez.
