‘Lipat Kulungan,’ ipinagbawal muna ng Korte Suprema
Ipinasususpinde ng Korte Suprema sa lahat ng mga korte sa bansa ang pansamantalang suspensyon ng paglilipat ng mga nahatulan ng detenido sa kustodiya ng Bureau of Corrections (BOC) mula sa Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
Ipinag-utos ni Court Administrator Midas Marquez ang suspensyon ng commitment orders mula sa mga korte epektibo mula Hulyo 29 hanggang Agosto 31.
“All convicted PDLs (Persons Deprived of Liberty) who should have otherwise been committed to the BuCor shall in the meantime remain and be committed in the BJMP jail units,” ayon sa isang pahinang kautusan.
Ang utos ay base sa hiling ni BuCor Dir. Gen. Gerald Bantag sa Korte Suprema na pansamantalang suspindehin ang paglilipat ng mga preso sa mga pasilidad ng BuCor para maiwasan ang pagkalat pa ng COVID-19 sa kanilang mga pasilidad.
Kasabay pa nito, patuloy ang pag-iimbestiga ng National Bureau of Investigation o NBI sa pagkamatay ng siyam na high profile prisoners sa pambansang piitan dahil umano sa COVID-19.
