Passenger ship nasunog sa karagatang sakop ng Catmon, Cebu

Tinupok ng apoy ang isang passenger ship sa karagatang sakop ng bayan ng Catmon sa Cebu.

Naganap ang sunog alas 10:00 ng gabi ng Huwebes July 23.

Ayon kay Commander Alvin Dagalea, tagapagsalita ng Philippine Coast Guard in Central Visayas (PCG-7), ligtas naman ang kapitan at lahat ng 47 crew members ng MV Filipinas Dinagat.

Nagawa nilang makaalis lahat ng barko bago lumaki ang apoy.

Wala namang pasahero o rolling cargoes na sakay ang barko nang mangyari ang sunog.

Ang MV Filipinas Dinagat ay pag-aari ng Cokaliong Shipping Lines.

Ayon kay Dagalea, umalis ang barko sa Pier 1 sa Cebu City alas 7:00 ng gabi ng Huwebes at patungo dapat sa Palompon, Leyte.

Dakong alas 10:00 ng gabi nang nakatanggap ng distress call ang coast guard mula sa nasabing barko.

Agad namang naipadala ng PCG-7 ang BRP Suluan (MV-4406) sa lugar.

95 percent ng barko ang natupok.

Magsasagawa ng imbestigasyon ang PCG-7 upang matukoy kung ano ang pinagmulan ng sunog.
