PPE local manufacturing, palakasin – Sen. Marcos

Naghain ng panukala si Senator Imee Marcos para hindi na masyadong umasa ang bansa sa mga imported medical supplies, partikular na ang personal protective equipmeynt (PPE) para sa healthcare workers at frontliners.

Sa inihain niyang Senate Bill 1708, o ang “Healthcare Manufacturing and Pandemic Protection Act,” gusto ni Marcos na mapalakas ang local production sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng tax exemptions at incentives ang mga local manufacturer.

“We need to guarantee that our health workers and frontliners have the medical supplies they require. Shortages of PPEs and other requisites caused infections resulting in the inexcusably high death toll among doctors, nurses and other frontliners,” aniya.

Hinihikayat din niya ang mga local manufacturer na magkaroon ng ‘innovation and repurposing’ sa mga materyales na mabibili naman sa bansa.

Sa kanyang panukala, hindi na kailangan pang magbayad ng manufacturers ng importation tax para sa mga biniling imported raw materials at kagamitan.

Gayundin, nais din niyang ilibre na sa mga buwis at iba pang bayarin sa Bureau of Customs at Food and Drug Administration ang mga local manufacturer.
