Petisyon kontra anti-terror law walang merito ayon sa Malakanyang

Kumpiyansa ang Palasyo ng Malakanyang na sa basurahan lamang dadamputin ang petisyon ng iba’t ibang grupong kontra sa Anti-Terror Law.

Ayon kay Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo, wala kasing merito ang mga petisyon at substantive grounds na ngayon ay nakabinbin sa Korte Suprema.

Kabilang sa mga naghain ng petisyon sina
BAYAN Secretary General Renato Reyes, Jr., Movement Against Tyranny Convenor Mother Mary John Mananzan at Karapatan Secretary General Cristina Palabay, dating UP President Francisco Nemenzo, dating UP Chancellor Michael Tan, dating DSWD Secretary Judy Taguiwalo.

Nagpahayag na rin ng suporta ang Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) sa mga petisyon kontra anti Terror Law.

Ayon kay Panelo, mukhang nakalimutan na ng CBCP Ang doktrina na separation of the church at state.

Nakadidismaya ayon kay Panelo dahil iisa ang tunog ng mga petitioners na may chilling effect umanl ang bagong batas na wala naman hanggang ngayon.
