Mga stranded na OFW sa abroad target mapauwing lahat hanggang katapusan ng Agosto

Target ng pamahalaan na mapauwi na sa bansa ng lahat ng mga stranded na Overseas Filipino Workers hanggang sa katapusan ng Agosto.

Sa pagdinig ng House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs, sinabi ni Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Sarah Arriola na inaasahan nila na mapapauwi sa bansa ang mahigit 50,577 OFWs hanggang sa katapusan ng Hulyo.

Sakali namang mapauwi na sa bansa ngayong Hulyo ang nasabing bilang target naman ng ahensya na mapauwi ang matitirang 117,049 OFWs sa katapusan ng Agosto o unang linggo ng Setyembre.

Mula June 26, aabot sa kabuuang 167,626 ang mga stranded OFWs na naipit sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng mundo bunsod pa rin ng epekto ng COVID-19 pndemic.

Ngayong Hulyo ay nasa 21,171 distressed OFWs mula Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Americas, Europe at Africa ang nakauwi na ng bansa.

Nagiging mabagal anya ang kanilang hakbang sa repatriation ng mga OFWs dahil sa limitasyon sa bilang ng mga flights, quarantine capacity sa bansa, pagsasara ng airports, kawalan ng exit visas ng maraming OFWs at pagkakasakit ng mga foreign service personnel.
