Bilang ng international travelers sa bansa, bumaba nang 95 porsyento – BI
Bumaba ang bilang ng international passengers na pumasok at umalis ng Pilipinas simula nang ipatupad ang community quarantine, ayon sa Bureau of Immigration (BI).
Sinabi ng ahensya na 95 porsyento ang ibinaba nito kumpara sa kaparehong panahon noong 2019.
Ayon kay Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente, bumaba nang 96 porsyento ang passenger arrival volume mula March 16 hanggang June 30.
Nabawasan naman nang 95 porsyento ang departure volume.
Ani Morente, ito ay bunsod ng ipinatupad na suspensyon ng international flights ng iba’t ibang airlines at travel restrictions dulot ng COVID-19 pandemic.
“We do not foresee these statistics to rise in the near future while the entire world is still fighting to defeat this coronavirus,” pahayag nito.
Ayon naman kay Immigration Deputy Spokesperson and BI National Operations Center (BINOC) Acting Chief Melvin Mabulac, nasa 189,000 pasahero lamang ang dumating sa bansa habang 238,000 ang umalis mula March 16 hanggang June 30.
Malayo ito kumpara sa humigit-kumulang 5.16 milyong pasaherong dumating at 5.18 milyong umalis ng bansa sa kaparehong panahon noong nakaraang taon.
“Also included in these figures are the more than 16,000 seafarers who disembarked after being quarantined aboard their vessels anchored at the Manila Bay,” dagdag pa nito.
Tiniyak naman ni Morente na patuloy ang pagbabantay ng BI officers sa mga port ng bansa laban sa unwanted aliens at para maiwasan ang human trafficking.
