Ipinanukala ni Senator Imee Marcos ang pagbuo ng plasma banks sa lahat ng private at public hospitals sa bansa habang hinihintay pa na makadiskubre ng bakuna laban sa COVID-19.
Base sa mga pagsasaliksik, ayon kay Marcos, nakakatulong sa mga tinamaan ng unang Coronavirus pandemics tulad ng Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) ang plasma ng mga gumaling sa nabanggit na sakit.
“There is hope in the use of plasma as a possible treatment for Covid-19, with clinical trials now being conducted by the PGH (Philippine General Hospital). The World Health Organization also sanctioned the use of plasma in other pandemics like the Ebola outbreak in Africa,” sabi ni Marcos.
Dapat aniya paghandaan na ang maaring pagtagal pa ng bakuna para sa COVID-19 dahil maging ang medical experts ay hindi masabi kung kailan tatagal ang kasalukuyang pandemiya.
Inihain ng senadora ang Senate Bill 1648 o ang Plasma Donation and Collection Act para masimulan na ang proseso sa pagkolekta ng plasma sa mga donor gayundin ang pagkakaroon ng pasilidad sa mga ospital.
