Contract Tracing App ng pamahalaan pinaiimbestigahan sa Kamara

Inihain sa Kamara ng MAKABAYAN Bloc ang isang resolusyon para imbestigahan ang official contact tracing application ng gobyerno na StaySafe PH.

Sa House Resolution 1009, dapat maimbestigahan ang StaySafe PH app dahil sa mga napaulat na iregularidad, pagiging depektibo at isyu sa data privacy.

Tinukoy din dito ang Facebook post noong June 13 ni Department of Information and Communications Technology Undersecretary Eliseo Rio Jr., na tanging mga 3G-capable phones lamang ang makaka-access sa application na katumbas ng 1% lamang ng total population.

Sa kanyang post sinabi ni Rio na mababawasan ang effectiveness ng application dahil sa 3G phones lamang ito gumagana at hindi ito ma-aaccess ng mga 2G phone users na nasa 20 million.

Napuna din ng Usec ang data privacy issues ng application dahil dapat ay locator tracker lamang ang kailangan na permission sa app pero humihingi rin ito ng access sa camera ng cellphone at maaaring i-modify at burahin ang anumang nilalaman sa storage.

Bunsod nito ay hiniling ng Makabayan na masiyasat agad ‘in aid of legislation’ ang application dahil interes ng mga Pilipino ang nakasalalay dito.
