POGO arrests pinasisilip ni Sen. Lela de Lima sa Senado

Gusto ni Senator Leila de Lima na magkaroon ng pagdinig sa Senado ukol sa mga naaaresto at kinakasuhan na may kaugnayan sa Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

Nais matiyak ni De Lima na talagang inaasikaso ng mga awtoridad ang mga kaso.

Layon ng inihain ni De Lima na Senate Resolution No 440 na malaman kung talagang may basehan para payagan ang patuloy na operasyon ng mga POGO sa bansa.

“The current administration’s kid glove approach against POGO-related criminality has emboldened these POGOs to continue its activities unimpeded within the Philippines, with little to no regard for our laws nor our standards for public health and safety,” sabi ni dde Lima.

Noong nakaraang Mayo 1, inihirit ni Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) Chairman Andrea Domingo na dapat payagan na ang mga POGO na magbalik operasyon ngunit limitado lang at dapat na makakasunod sa COVID 19 safety protocols.

Ngunit noong Mayo 21, sinabi ni BIR Deputy Comm. Arnel Guballa na walang POGO ang maaring magbalik operasyon dahil wala kahit isa sa kanila ang nagbayad ng buwis, na isa sa mga kondisyon para sila ay muling makapag-operate.

“There is a need to determine the resolve in which our law enforcement sector implements our laws against POGOs,” diin ng senadora.
