Senator Leila de Lima naghain ng motion for bail sa korte

Umapela si Senator Leila De Lima sa korte sa Muntinlupa na payagan siyang makapagpiyansa.

Tatlong taon ang nakalipas mula nang siya ay mabilanggo naghain si De Lima ng motion for bail sa Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC)-Branch 166 para sa kaso niyang may kaugnayan sa illegal drug trade.

Sa nasabing kaso sinabing nag-demand ng pera at sasakyan si De Lima para sa kaniyang 2016 senatorial campaign mula sa kay Peter Co.

Sa mosyon ng mga abogado ni De Lima, sinabing walang sapat na ebidensya na nagsasangkot sa senadora sa drug trade.

Iginiit sa mosyon na pawang hearsay lamang ang mga ebidensya laban kay De Lima.

“Certainly, the granting of bail to accused De Lima will result in upholding her constitutional presumption of innocence, recognizing her right to due process, and guarantee her appearance in court for the remainder of the trial, and allow her to serve her mandate as a duly-elected senator of the country,” ayon sa mosyon.
