80 rescue boats, binili ng Manila LGU bilang paghahanda sa tag-ulan

Bumili ang Manila City government ng 80 polyvinyl chloride (PVC) rescue boats bilang paghahanda sa panahon ng tag-ulan.

Ayon kay Manila Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) Director Arnel Angeles, magagamit ang rescue boats para sa posibleng gawing rescue operations sakaling magkaroon ng emergency.

Maaari rin aniya itong magamit sa search and rescue operations at sa clean up operations sa mga sapa at ilog.

“The boat weighs about 100 kilos, made of HDPE plastic that is molded through a process known as ‘blow-molding’, where the plastic is melted and formed,” pahayag ni Angeles.

“The outboard engine is 30hp maximum. This will tremendously reduce response times in Rapid Water Rescue Operations,” dagdag pa nito.

Kaya aniyang masakay ng rescue boat ang 10 katao.

Nasa 40 na flood-prone barangay aniya ang bibigyang-prayoridad sa pamamahagi ng rescue boats.

Sa ngayon, 30 sa 80 rescue boats ang naiturn-over na sa MDRRMO sa araw ng Lunes, June 15.
