380 distressed OFWs mula Kuwait, darating sa Pilipinas sa Lunes

Halos 400 distressed overseas Filipino workers mula sa Kuwait ang nakatakdang makauwi ng Pilipinas, ayon sa Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Ayon sa kagawaran, iniulat ng Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) sa Kuwait na dalawang chartered flights ang inayos ng Kuwaiti government para sa paguwi ng 380 Filipino workers.

Inaasahang darating ang dalawang batch ng OFW sa pamamagitan ng Kuwait Airlines KU417 sa June 1 at 3 bandang 2:00 ng hapon.

Ayon sa DOLE, ang repatriation ay bahagi ng State of Kuwait’s Amnesty Program na nagsimula noong April 2020.

Ayon kay DOLE Undersecretary Claro Arellano, nasa 2,277 OFWs ang na-repatriate ng Kuwaiti government kasunod ng desisyon nito noong March 30 na ipatupad ang Amnesty Program para sa lahat ng expatriates na may paso nang residency visa.

“Kuwaiti government shouldered the airfare costs, including provision for food and accommodation to qualified OFW availees pending their departure to the Philippines,” ani Arellano.

Siniguro naman ng DOLE na mahigpit silang nakikipag-ugnayan sa Public Authority for Manpower at Ministry of Interior para matiyak na mabibigyan ng priority access ang mga kwalipikadong OFW sa amnesty program.
