Na-repatriate na overseas Filipinos, umabot na sa higit 29,000 – DFA
Umabot na sa 29,351 na overseas Filipinos (OFs) ang na-repatriate simula nang magpauwi ng mga Filipinong apektado ng COVID-19, ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
Naitala ang nasabing bilang hanggang May 23.
Ayon sa kagawaran, sa nasabing bilang, 19,610 o 66.8 porsyento ang sea-based habang 9,741 o 33.2 porsyento ang land-based.
Kabilang sa datos ang pagdating ng mga overses Filipino worker (OFW) mula sa Saudi Arabia, Sabado ng umaga (May 23).
Inabisuhan ng DFA ang sinumang OF na nais makauwi ng Pilipinas ay maaaring ipagbigay-alam sa embahada o konsulado sa kanilang lugar.
Maaari anilang maapektuhan ang availability ng flights dahil sa travel restrictions mula sa bansang pagmumulan at limitadong kapasidad ng mga pasilidad sa Pilipinas na maaaaring mag-accommodate sa kanilang pag-uwi.
Ngunit, sinabi ni DFA Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. na itutulak nila ang maximum capacity ng mga pauwing OFW.
“But we will keep pushing for maximum capacity of returning OFWs. The right to return home cannot be restricted by any consideration even inadequate quarantine facilities. Then just let them through. But no one keeps OFWs from home. No one,” pahayag ng kalihim.
Base sa Department of Health (DOH) Memo 2020-0200, lahat ng pagablik na OF ay kailangang sumailalim sa pagsusuri at mandatory quarantine sa government-designated facilities o BOQ-approved quarantine hotels habang hinihintay ang resulta ng kanilang test.
