DOH sa COVID-19 sa Pilipinas: “Yes, we are in the first wave”

Kinumpirma ng Department of Health (DOH) na nasa first wave ng COVID-19 ang Pilipinas.

Ito ay matapos klaruhin ng Palasyo ng Malakanyang na nasa first wave pa rin ng nakakahawang sakit ang Pilipinas, taliwas sa inihayag ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III na nasa second wave na sa pagdinig ng Senado.

Sa virtual presser, sinabi ni Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho, Health Promotion and Communication Service Director IV, nasa first wave pa rin ang bansa sa local community transmission.

“Kung matatandaan niyo po local community transmission happened noong nagsimula po tayong mag-report ng cases ng mga kababayan natin na walang exposure sa mga positive cases o kaya walang travel history. We are still in this wave,” pahayag nito.

Ang nasabing wave aniya ay nag-peak noong March 31 kung kailan naitala ang 538 COVID-19 positive cases, pinakamataas na nadagdag sa bansa sa loob ng isang araw.

“Since then, the average number of cases has declined to around 220 cases per day. This is the reason why we are saying that we have started to flatten the curve,” paliwanag pa nito.

Humingi naman ng paumanhin ang kagawaran sa idinulot nitong kalituhan sa publiko.

“We apologize for the confusion that this has caused. But we hope that this does not in anyway distract us from what we really need to do to change the course of this pandemic,” ani Ho.

Dagdag pa nito, nakasalalay sa bawat isang mamamayan kung paano masusugpo ang pandemya sa pamamagitan ng pagtugon ng health protocols.
