Maraming trabahador at empleyado ang apektado ng pagpapatupad ng lockdown bunsod ng COVID-19.
Nagunit maliban dito, apektado rin ng lockdown ang mga musikero na kumikita sa regular performances.
Dahil dito, binuo ang kayaKap, isang fundraising initiative upang tulungan ang mga musikero na naapektuhan ang kabuhayan bunsod ng COVID-19 pandemic.
“Working musicians whose daily bread and butter is their everyday gig, now suffer from lack of income to support the needs of their family,” pahayag ni Rom Dongeto, singer-songwriter mula sa bandang Buklod.
Si Dongeto ang nangunguna sa coordinators sa kayaKap fundraiser.
“Even after lifting the lockdown, we fear a worsening of the economic situation for musicians as we traverse the new normal,” dagdag pa nito.
“Businesses will most likely streamline their operations and public gatherings will probably still be discouraged. And without patrons, music venues might not open. Working musicians and those that rely on the live music industry –from gigs in bars to festivals and concerts, will be greatly affected,” ani Dongeto.
Kasabay nito, umapela ng tulong ang kayaKap fundraiser mula sa publiko para maipaabot sa mga apektadong musikero at kani-kanilang pamilya.
Kabilang sa listahan ng mga benepisyaryo ng kayaKap ang musikerong senior citizen, may kapansanan, at mga nangangailangan ng agarang medical at financial support.
“In times of crisis, musicians contribute to uplifting people’s spirits. Sometimes inspiring an entire nation to rise up in chorus to overcome difficult situations. Right now, musicians need your help. We need your help. Please help us help our fellow musicians!,” dagdag pa ni Dongeto.
