125 pang immigration officers, negatibo sa COVID-19

Karagdagan pang 125 immigration personnel ang nagnegatibo sa COVID-19, ayon sa Bureau of Immigration (BI).

Ayon kay BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, nakatalaga ang 125 immigration officers sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Nagsagawa aniya ng ikalawang batch ng rapid antibody-based testing para sa mga naka-assign na immigration personnel sa NAIA noong Biyernes, May 15, para maiwasan ang pagkalat ng COVID-19 sa ahensya.

“We are targeting to roll out mass testing among our frontline officers who are one of the most at risk in contracting this virus, being the first that international travelers encounter during their arrival in the country,” pahayag ni Morente.

Una aniyang isinagawa ang pagsusuri sa mga nakatalaga sa NAIA at sa main office ng BI.

Plano na rin aniya nilang magsagawa ng pagsusuri sa iba pang tanggapan ng BI sa buong bansa.

Ayon naman kay BI Port Operations Division Chief Grifton Medina, prayoridad sa pagsailalim sa pagsusuri ang mga personnel na may direct contact sa COVID-19 passengers, senior citizens, buntis at mayroon nang medical conditions.

Binibigyang-prayoridad din aniya ang mga BI officer na nagpoproseso ng repatriation flights, maging ang primary at secondary inspectors.

Matatandaang noong Abril, 206 immigration officers sa NAIA at 150 personnel sa main office ng BI ang negatibo rin sa nakakahawang sakit.

Kahit negatibo sa COVID-19, sinabi ni Morente na kailangan pa ring maging mahigpit sa pagpapatupad ng protocols sa paggamit ng personal protective equipment (PPE) laban sa sakit.

“We have strict protocols in the use of PPEs (personal protective equipment) in the conduct of our officers’ duties, as well as the implementation of strict social distancing in all our offices,” dagdag pa nito.
