Hindi dapat maningil ng mga bago at karagdagang buwis ang gobyerno ngayong hindi pa nakakabangon ang mga negosyo na nagsara o nalugi dahil sa COVID-19 crisis.
Ito ang sinabi ni Sen. Imee Marcos at aniya ang dapat gawin ng gobyerno ay baguhin ang pinag-uusapan pang Corporate Income Tax and Incentives Reform Act o CITIRA.
Ayon sa namumuno sa Senate Committee on Economic Affairs, ang dapat gawin ay dagdagan pa ang ibinibigay na tax reductions, deferrals and exemptions.
“New taxes are opposite of stimulus packages, which have been slow in coming but are what businesses need right now. Payment of tax dues and collection of tax revenues are likely to be difficult at this time,” sabi pa ni Marcos.
Ikinatuwa naman ng senadora ang pahayag ng government economic managers na bukas sila sa ‘calibration’ ng CITIRA at hindi dapat madaliin ang mga mambabatas na ipasa ito.
Nais ni Marcos na maisama sa CITIRA ang kabawasan ng hanggang limang porsiyento sa sinisingil sa buwis sa kita ng mga negosyo.
