Lumagapak ang gross domestic product (GDP) ng Pilipinas sa unang quarter ng taong kasalukuyan dahil sa Coronavirus Disease o COVID-19.
Ayon sa ulat ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), bumagsa ng 0.2 percent ang GDP.
Ayon kay PSA National Statistician Claire Dennis Mapa, huling bumagsak ang GDP sa fourth quarter noong 1998.
Bukod sa COVID-19, nakaapekto rin sa GDP ang pagputok ng bulkang Mayon noong Enero.
Una nang sinabi ni Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III na hindi maganda ang GDP sa buwan ng Abril, Mayo at Hunyo dahil sa nararaanasang problema sa COVID-19.
