Itinigil na ng ABS-CBN Corporation ang kanilang broadcast operations mag-aalas otso ng gabi ng Martes (May 5).
Ito ay bilang pagtalima na rin sa cease and desist order ng National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) matapos mapaso ang prangkisa noong May 4.
Sakop ng kautusan ng NTC ang 42 television stations sa buong bansa kabbilang na ang flagship station na Channel 2, 10 digital broadcast channels, 18 FM stations at 5 AM stations kabilang na ang DZMM radio.
Ayon pa sa pahayag ng istasyon, milyong Filipino ang nawalan ng source ng balita at entertainement.
“Millions of Filipinos will lose their source of news and entertainment when ABS-CBN is ordered to go off-air on TV and radio tonight (5 May 2020) when people need crucial and timely information as the nation deals with the COVID-19 pandemic,” ayon sa pahayag ng ABS-CBN Corporation.
