Tugade, ipinag-utos sa CAAP na ikonsidera ang pagbubukas ng paliparan sa mga lugar na nasa ilalim ng GCQ
Ipinag-utos ni Transportion Secretary Arthur Tugade sa Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), kasama ang iba pang airport authorities, na seryosong ikonsidera ang muling pagbubukas ng mga paliparan sa mga lugar na nakasailalim sa general community quarantine (GCQ).
Ibinaba ng kalihim ang kautusan sa pulong kasama ang DOTr Air Sector noong April 30 sa pamamagitan ng video conferencing.
“The reopening of airports in GCQ areas to commercial aviation will gradually jump start airline operations now hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. This will plant the seeds for domestic tourism. This should seriously be considered,” ani Tugade.
Sinabi naman ni CAAP Director General Capt. Jim Sydiongco na mayroon nang air route network ang mga airline company sa Visayas at Mindanao.
Maaari aniyang magamit ito anumang oras sakaling ipabalik na ang operasyon.
“Some airlines are readily capable of mounting inter island flights to serve communities from one GCQ area to another GCQ area using the inter Visayas and/or Inter Mindanao air routes,” ayon pa kay Sydiongco.
Dagdag pa nito, ang nasabing ‘practice’ aniya ay kilala sa aviation sector bilang Hub and Spoke model.
Sa ilalim nito, maaaring magamit ng air carriers ang regional airports bilang alternative airport hub bilang konsiderasyon sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Mactan-Cebu International Airport at Clark International Airport (CIA) na pansamantalang isinara sa regular commercial aviation operations.
“We want to operationalize this approach before the end of next week, but of course without compromising health and safety protocols set by the IATF and the Department of Health. Pag-iisipan namin kung paano ito maisasagawa ng maayos at mabilis,” ayon pa kay Tugade.
