Pagtulong ng DFA sa overseas Filipinos, pinuri ni Sen. Pimentel

Pinapurihan ni Senator Aquilino Pimentel III ang Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) sa patuloy na pagbibigay tulong sa mga Filipino sa ibang bansa kasabay nang pananalasa ng COVID-19.

Partikular na tinukoy ni Pimentel ang ikinakasang repatriation program ng displaced overseas Filipino workers, gayundin ang daily tracking and monitoring ng mga overseas Filipino na taglay na ang sakit.

“I wish that the DFA continues its efforts in extending assistance to OFWs in countries affected by the pandemic. Our OFWs are among the sectors hardest hit by the crisis. Napakahirap nang malayo sa pamilya at sa sariling bansa sa panahong ito,” ayon sa namumuno sa Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Nabanggit ng senador na maaring bumunot pa ang kagawaran sa sariling bulsa para sabayan ang ibinibigay na P10,000 one-time cash assistance ng DOLE sa OFWs.

Ayon kay Pimentel, maaring magamit ng DFA ang kanilang Legal Assistance Fund para pandagdag sa ibinibigay na mga tulong pinansiyal sa OFWs.

Susulat din ang senador kay Foreign Affairs Sec. Teodoro Locsin Jr., para magkaroon ng hiwalay na datos ang OFWs na ginagamot dahil sa COVID-19.
