NTC umapela sa LGUs at HOAs na payagan ang Telco teams sa kanilang lugar
Hiniling ng National Telecommunications Commission(NTC) sa Local Government Units(LGU) at homeowners associations (HOA) na pairalin ang konsiderasyon nang pagpasok ng telecommunications personnel sa kani-kanilang nasasakupan para matiyak na nasa maayos pa rin ang internet connection sa bansa sa harap nang pagdami ng mga gumagamit ng internet ngayong nasa Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) period ang Pilipinas.
Ipinaliwanag ni NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba na mahalaga ang connectivity ngayon para sa mga Filipino para makabangon sa nagpapatuloy na COVID-19 pandemic.
“Telecommunications now serve as one of our lifelines. Having internet at home or mobile data allows us to keep updated with the current COVID-19 crisis and helps us get connected with our loved ones. Online grocery or food shopping, banking, study, consultation with medical experts, and entertainment are also some of the vital uses of the internet today.” Sabi ni Cordoba.
Ngayong nasa ika-limang linggo na, ay sabay naman ang pagdami ng mga negosyo na napililitang pairalin ang work from home arrangements. Kabilang sa mga ito ay ang Business Processes Outsourcing (BPO) industry, na siyang nanatiling sandigan ng ekonomiya ng bansa at pangunahing nagbibigay trabaho sa maraming Filipino. Ngayon higit na kinakailangan ang internet access para sa mas nakararami.
“Having steady and efficient internet access in the coming weeks is absolutely necessary. I appeal to LGUs and HOAs to allow telco personnel easy entry into their communities to ensure that we have dependable internet connection in the coming days.” Dagdag pa ni Cordoba.
Ginawa ni Cordoba ang apela matapos makatanggap ng sumbong ang NTC mula sa ibat-ibang telcos na pinagbabawalan umano ng mga tauhan ng LGU na makapasok ang kanilang technical field personnel na nakatoka para magsagawa ng repair work sa kanilang fixed broadband access cabinets sa gated villages dahil sa umiiral na community quarantine.
Matatandaan na simula pa laman nang pairalin ang ECQ ay nilinaw na ng Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on the COVID-19 Pandemic na exempted ang mga tauhan ng
telecommunication companies are exempted sa quarantine para masiguro na maayos na tumatakbo ang serbisyo ng mga telco tulad ng voice calls, text, at data services.
“The telco personnel out in the field are also frontliners. They are doing their job so you can stay safe at home. We need to allow them access to your areas to either connect new homes to the internet or fix technical issues. They need all our support and cooperation.” giit pa ni Cordoba.
