Dalawang quarantine ships, handa na para sa pauwing OFWs – DOTr
Inihayag ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) na handa nang magsilbing temporary quarantine ships ang dalawang pribadong passenger vessels simula sa araw ng Linggo, April 12.
Ayon sa DOTr, kaya nang malapag-accommodate ng dalawang barko ng seafarers at iba pang Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
Katuwang sa inisyatibo ng DOTr ang 2GO company para magsagawa ng containment efforts sa Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).
Sa nasabing quarantine ships sa Pier 15, South Harbor, Port Area sa Maynila, dadalhin ang Filipino repatriates na sasailalim sa mandatory quarantine.
“We have seen the need to step up and help the health sector attend to the needs of our countrymen. As we are expecting more repatriates to return home, we came up with these quarantine ships to serve as their temporary accommodations while they are on forced 14-day quarantine. Alam naman natin na karamihan sa mga ospital ngayon dito sa Metro Manila ay puno na, kaya’t malaking tulong ito para hindi na makadagdag pa sa sitwasyon,” ayon kay DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade.
Kayang makapag-accommodate ng isang barko ng 800 katao habang ang ikalawang barko ay 300 katao.
