Pagdedeklara ng unilateral ceasefire inirekomenda ni CPP founding chair Joma Sison
Inirekomenda ni CPP founding chair at Chief Political Consultant Joma Sison sa Negotiating Panel ng National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) ang posibilidad ng pag-iisyu ng unilateral ceasefire declaration.
Ito ay bilang tugon sa panawagan ni UN secretary general Antonio Guterres para sa global ceasefire kasabay ng paglaban ng mundo sa COVID-19 pandemic.
Ayon kay Sison, ihihinto muna ang paglulunsad ng opensiba.
Sinabi din ni Sison na may sarili nang hakbang ang NDFP sa kanilang revolutionary forces kung saan naabisuhan at nasanay na ang mga ito para makaiwas sa sakit.
Sa gitna ng ceasefire sinabi ni Sison na mananatiling alerto ang New People’s Army at handa sa self-defense sa anumang pagsalakay na gagawin ng pwersa ng pamahalaan.
Sinabi ni Sison na tinanggihan ng CPP ang deklarasyon unilateral ceasefire ni Pangulong Duterte noong March 15 dahil tuloy naman ang opensiba, pambobomba, pagdukot at red tagging campaigns ng AFT at PNP sa kanilang hanay.
