Arroceros, idineklara bilang permanent forest park
Pinirmahan na ni Manila Mayor Isko Moreno ang ordinansa na nagdedeklara sa Arroceros Forest Park bilang isang ‘permanent forest park.’
Ito ay alinsunod sa Republic Act No. 5752 na nagbibigay ng mandato sa mga lungsod na magtatag at panatilihin ang permanent forest, tree parks o watersheds.
“The use and enjoyment of the Arroceros Forest Park must be consistent with the principles of sustainable development and the right of the people to a balanced and healthful ecology,” nakasaan sa Ordinance No. 8607.
Maliban dito, nakalathala rin sa ordinansa na bawal ang pagpuputol ng puno, pagtatapos ng basura at anumang uri ng excavation sa lugar.
Sinumang lumabag ay pagmumultahin ng P2,500 sa first offense, P3,500 sa second offense, habang P5,000 multa o pagkakakulong ng hindi lalagpas sa isang taon sa third offense depende sa desisyon ng korte.
P1 milyon ang inilaan ng pamahalaang lokal ng Maynila para sa operasyon ng forest park.
Bubuo anila ng Arroceros Forest Park Governing Committee para gumawa ng management plan para sa maintenance at operasyon nito.
Isa ang ordinansa sa mga ipinangako ni Moreno sa kaniyang plataporma noong 2019 elections.
