Isang buwang mall sale sa bansa, ipinagpaliban ng DOT
Ipinagpaliban ng Department of Tourism (DOT) ang isang buwang mall sale na 2020 Philippine Shopping Festival sa bansa.
Sa inilabas na pahayag, sinabi ni Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat na ito ay kasunod ng tumataas na bilang ng kaso ng Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) sa buong mundo sa nakalipas na mga araw.
Sinabi ng kalihim na nananatiling prayoridad ng kagawaran ang kaligtasan ng bawat Filipino kaysa sa visitor arrivals at kita.
Layon ng aktibidad na palakasin ang turismo kasunod ng epekto ng travel restrictions bunsod ng nasabing sakit.
Idaraos sana ang mall sale mula March 1 hanggang 31.
Ayon pa kay Romulo-Puyat, makikipag-ugnayan sila sa mga mall establishment na ipagpatuloy muna ang kanilang normal na operasyon.
Nagpasalamat naman ang kalihim sa mga nakiisang mall establishment sa suporta.
Nagpaalala rin ang kalihim sa publiko na sundin ang panuntunan ng DOH para maiwasan ang pagkalat ng COVID-19 tulad ng proper hygiene.
“As much as we want to mitigate the economic impact of the COVID-19, the safety of our citizens remains our priority. We advise the general public to maintain proper hygiene and follow the guidelines set by the Department of Health to contain the spread of the virus,” ani Romulo-Puyat.
