Nagpaabot ng pakikiramay ang Palasyo ng Malakanyang sa pamilya ni Vice President Leni Robredo dahil sa pagpanaw ng kanyang ina na si Salvacion Gerona.
Ayon kay Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo, hindi matatawaran ang dedikasyon ni Ginang Gerona dahil sa pagiging guro at paghubog sa kaalaman ng ilang henerasyon ng mga kabataan.
“We understand that Sally, as she was fondly called by her loved ones, was a selfless and dedicated teacher who molded countless of young minds across generations,” ayon kay Panelo.
Nakikisimpatya aniya ang Palasyo sa pamilya at mga kaibigan na naiwan ni Ginang Gerona.
Ipinapanalangin aniya ng Palasyo ang kaluluwa ni Ginang Gerona.
“We pray that the perpetual light will shine upon Ms. Gerona, and that her soul, through the mercy of God, may rest in eternal happiness and peace,” dagdag pa nito.
Hindi naman matukoy ni Panelo kung dadalaw sa burol si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
“Hindi natin alam kung may schedule na si Presidente,” sinabi ni Panelo.
Pumanaw si Ginang Gerona, araw ng Sabado (February 22), sa edad na 83.
Nakaratay ang kanyang mga labi sa Eternal Gardens sa Balatas Road sa Naga City.
