Power companies na may bilyong utang sa PSALM, ipatatawag ng Kamara

Ipapatawag ng House Committee on Public Accounts ang power companies na may utang sa Power Sector Asset and Liabilities Management o PSALM.

Sa pagdinig ni komite na pinamumunuan ni Anakalusugan Rep. Mike Defensor, sinabi ni PSALM President Atty. Irene Joy Besido- Garcia na aabot sa P95 bilyon ang pagkakautang ng iba’t ibang kumpanya sa PSALM.

Sabi ni Besido-Garcia, hanggang taong 2026 na lamang ang buhay ng korporasyon kapag hindi ito pinayagang magpatuloy ng pamahalaan.

Kapag hindi anya nabayaran ang nasabing utang ay ang taumbayan ang papasan nito pagkatapos ng buhay ng PSALM.

Karamihan sa mga may pagkakautang sa PSALM ay mayroong mga isinampang kaso sa korte na kasalukuyan pang nakabinbin.

Kabilang sa ipatatawag ng komite ang may bilyong utang kabilang ang Manila Electric Company – P14.9 bilyon, South Premiere Power Corp. ng San Miguel – P23.9 bilyon, Northern Renewables Generation Corp – P4.5 bilyon, FDC – P3.7 bilyon at Good Friends Hydro Resources Corp – P1.2 bilyon.

Bukod sa mga ito, iimbitahan din ng komite sa kanilang pagdinig ng Office of Solicitor General.
