Iginiit ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na kaya ng Pilipinas na tumindig sa sariling mga paa kahit wala ang tulong ng Estados Unidos.

Ayon kay AFP chief of staff Gen. Felimon Santos Jr., tinimbang nila ang lahat ukol sa pagkalusaw ng Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA).

Naipaliwanag na rin aniya ito kay Defense Sec. Delfin Lorenzana.
